Apollo 11 is a mission of the American Apollo space program, during which men landed on the Moon for the first time on Monday, July 21, 1969. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the Moon, while Michael Collins, the CSM pilot, remained in orbit around the Moon during the lunar expedition.

Here is a 1/24th scale model of the Apollo 11 spacecraft itself, comprising the CSM 107 Columbia and the LM 5 Eagle.

Only the exterior details are shown, but there are still more than 620 parts to be printed.

The entire model is fully printable with a conventional FDM printer.
The parts don’t present any particular difficulties to print, if you already have some experience in 3D printing. The supports, when necessary, are already provided and will be removed as the construction progresses, as indicated in the assembly instructions.

The model comes in 5 packs, with increasing difficulty of assembly. So, if you’re not sure you can do it, you can start with pack 1, free of charge, then if all goes well, move on to pack 2 and so on… If you’re familiar with my models, this project won’t present any particular difficulty.

Total model dimensions: length 65 cm, width 30 cm, height 30 cm
Model weight: 1600 grs
9 filament colors to choose from: Silver (matte and glossy), Black (matte), White, Copper (glossy), Gold (glossy), Red, Yellow, Blue and Green.

The final result is simply incredible. Many parts of the model are movable for added realism.

Don’t hesitate to consult the assembly instructions to find out what it’s all about: APOLLO 11

As always, I’ll be happy to listen to any difficulties you may encounter and find the solutions you’re looking for.
